This piece was inspired by a childhood memory of hopping out of the swimming pool to pick peppers with my “Aunt Annie,” a beloved family friend who would often babysit us during the summers. I can still smell the basket of peppers if I close my eyes tight. What a simple blessing, an abundance easily-overlooked.
